A Portland-based ensemble dedicated to telling timeless stories that transcend generations, genres, and geography. We believe in story first—content over concept—and in creating theatre that connects, moves, and serves the communities where it lives.
While we are rooted in the classics, we are not limited by them; we embrace stories that speak across time. Our mission is to gather artists and audiences in shared spaces of imagination, to make the familiar feel new, and to remind us of our shared humanity.

SONNETS IN THE CITY

Sonnets in the City, a Valentine to Portland is a special Valentine’s Day activation presented by Rose City Stage Company in collaboration with Travel Portland. Taking place at the downtown Travel Portland Visitor Center, this intimate, free event features a live reading of Shakespeare’s most enduring love sonnets, performed in a come-and-go format designed for a romantic pre-dinner stop. Inviting locals and visitors alike to pop in, linger for a few poems, or stay for the full program, Sonnets in the City celebrates love, language, and the timeless magic of Shakespeare in the heart of the Rose City.

In partnership with NoVacancy, this site-specific reading of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol brings the raw heart of the 1843 text into a historic Old Town space, turning a once-vacant building into a warm holiday refuge where storytelling, compassion, and community support take center stage.
